Galway Motorcycle School

Your Instructor

The Instructor at Galway Motorcycle School is John Mullen. John has been enjoying motorcycling for over 15 years. In that time John has ridden over 200,000 accident free kilometres.

John holds a number of motorcycling and instructional qualifications, which is matched by very few others in Ireland. These qualifications include:

  • Road Safety Authority - Approved Driving Instructor. The Road Safety Authority (RSA) is the national body assigned with responsibility for improving road safety in Ireland. From May 1st 2009, only instructors who are approved by the RSA may give instruction on a commercial basis.
  • Diploma in Advanced Motorcycle Instruction with the English based, Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). RoSPA are one of the premier safety organisations in the world. Their qualifications are recognised, coveted and highly respected worldwide.
  • Gold Grade in Advanced Riding with RoSPA.
  • BTEC Certificate in Advanced Riding Instruction with the English based EDEXCEL educational awards body.
  • Qualified Motorcycle Instructor and member of the Motorcycle Safety Associates Ltd. (MSA). The MSA are considered to be the premier motorcycle training organisation in Ireland today. Testament to this is the fact that BMW Motorrad use only MSA associated instructors for their Irish clients.
  • Approved AON/AXA Skills Assessor. Approved by AON insurance brokers and AXA insurance company to instruct, assess and certify existing and potential clients.
  • Approved Quinn Direct Skills Assessor. Approved by Quinn Direct Insurance company to instruct, assess and certify existing and potential clients.
  • Level 1 and Level 2 Advanced Motorcycle Cornering Skills with the California Superbike School.

In additional to the above riding and instructional accomplishments, John has a wealth of practical instructional experience. This includes training hundreds of riders and completing thousands of hours instruction. One measure of John’s instructional abilities is the fact that his Pass rate for the RSA, full licence, riding test has consistently being in excess of 92% since he started instructing. The success rate with insurance skills assessment has been of a similar order.

This comprehensive mix of theoretical knowledge, riding skills and practical training experience ensures that the instruction you receive is among the best available in Ireland today.

Note: Beware of those who claim 100% test pass rates. In our experience, this just does not happen (unless the number of people they have prepared for tests is very small, i.e. less than 30).
